Event Overview

Affective computing is the study and development of systems and devices that can recognize, interpret, process, and simulate human affects. A motivation for this area is the ability to simulate empathy in computer systems; where the machine interprets the emotional states of humans and adapts its behavior to them. Furthermore, software engineering researchers consider affective computing as relevant to develop software applications that use emotional states of the users as the main resource to improve the software quality (self-adaptive, efficient, usable, etc.) and the user experience.
For that reason, this first edition of the winter school aims to introduce foundations on persuasive technology and affective computing, and techniques for designing innovative and sustainable software.
